This dress was about to get thrown away by my roommate because she didn’t have the tools or time to repair it.

I ended up choosing the darker thread on the left which I thought matched the fabric of the dress more closely.

Making sure we double knot the thread at the end, while leaving some space to cut the leftover thread when the hemming is complete.
Starting from the inside of the dress toward the outside to ensure that the leftover thread will not be seen after it is cut.

For this project, I used a simple hand sewing technique called the running stitch.

The final product! A secure strap that will hold up for many more wears.
